Background:
Going to grade-school, then to college I had no intention to become a programmer. It’s hard to pinpoint the exact moment in which I said to myself that this is what I want to do. My background started out within graphic design, and at the time (and to this day) its a forced skill. I went to school for graphic design and web development. I took an enjoyment in Flash, and Flash animation at the time of graduation which landed me my current job at the time as a Flash Developer. Over the past 4 years I’ve become quite cozy with Flash, to the point in which I wasn’t learning as much.
Accepting that Flash wasn’t a true calling I started taking on more complex projects, working with Databases, and programming within PHP/jQuery. On the side it’s Java, Objective-C, C++ and… really any other language I can squeeze in.
Where I am now:
Long story short, reading one text book to the next was becoming less efficient, I needed professional teachings - a direction to be pointed in. I now, after a full working day of programming and database management find myself at night school seeking my Bachelors in Computer Systems. It’s a bit of a juggling act, but in the end I enjoy it.
The Future?
Programming. It’s simple I like the idea of not knowing, its what drives me to learn and question even more. It’s such an open topic and everyone has a different approach to it. Perhaps one day teaching, I would hate for others to have to go through the mistakes I had made for myself!
